Boockmeier earns All-American status in DIII decathlon

St. Norbert College’s Brad Boockmeier and Dan Sisler finished fifth and 11th, respectively, in the decathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday at St. Lawrence University’s Merrick-Picard Track and Field Complex.
Boockmeier, a Green Bay Preble alum, totaled 6,709 points to earn All-America status in the event for the second time in his career, and setting a St. Norbert-record point total.
Sisler, competing for the third time at the championship in the decathlon, totaled 6,417 points. UW-Eau Claire’s Brandon Zarnoth was the national decathlon champion with 7,279 points.
Boockmeier, whose first All-America performance was an eighth-place showing in 2013, turned in a second-day best total of 782 points with a time of 15.57 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles. He also passed the 700-point mark with 710 points in the discus, firing 138 feet 6 inches. He recorded 630 points in the javelin with a toss of 173-2.
Sisler posted 746 points in the 110 hurdles for his second-day best, finishing in 15.88 seconds. He also gained 610 points in the 1,500 run with a time of 4 minutes, 51.39 seconds, and added 578 points in the javelin with a distance of 161-9.
